Could Cialis lead to dependence?
Been suffering from mid-to-mild ED for the last few years, that is mostly able to get a ‘satisfactory’ erection (>70%) for sex most of the time, but rip-roaring erections are rare, and repeat performances never. Diagnosed with bipolar depression, stressful job, heavy smoker, so lot of possible causes there.
Working on controlling the depression and stress, and trying to avoid smoking. Not very successful in stopping completely, but smoking less than five a day as compared to 30-40 a day before. Am still trying to cut it down further if I can’t stop completely.
Also doing a kegel/reverse kegel routine which seems to be showing some benefits, on at least one occasion hit a 10 EQ, but still there are good days and there are bad days.
Tried the local generic version of Cialis yesterday, which was a mind-blowing success. Long-lasting, super-hard erection, sex went on as long as I wanted, could easily have gone for a repeat if time had permitted. Next time, might halve or even quarter the dose, it was so effective. NLP, positive thinking everything be damned, performance anxiety thrown right out of the window.
My worry is: I don’t want to become dependent on popping a pill to be able to have sex on demand. Read some threads where people have claimed their natural ability to get erections has improved as a result of taking viagra/cialis. Read others where 20 year olds are scared to come off cialis.
What’s the dope here? Are there any chances of getting hooked either physiologically or psychologically on this? Would it harm my own normal erections?

All said and done, I will be working on the smoking, stress and depression, as well as bringing my overall physical fitness back up. That’s a given.
Ok here is an example , the eq issue (don’t know if I would call it ed ) is in your head and yet .
1. Poor blood circulation – due to an underlying disease such as diabetes, hypertension, arteriosclerosis, high cholesterol.
2. Drug induced ED – some common drugs such as antidepressants, diuretics, high blood pressure meds,anti-anxiety drugs, antihistamines, antiepileptics, Parkinson’s disease meds, NSAIDS, muscle relaxants can cause ED as a side effect. You may wanna check with your doctor if there are any alternative medicines that you can be switched to.
3. Long term heavy alcohol consumption – Like other recreational drugs, alcohol can temporary relax you which may seem to help your erections but, long-term, it depresses your central nervous system and impairs your sexual function… “drinkers’ droop” has real long-term effect.
4. Low testosterone levels – After age 40-50, testosterone levels begin to decline until 70 years old where it’s about 30% of what it was. However, only about 5% of men who seek medical treatment for erectile dysfunction are testosterone deficient.
5. Physical injury to the penis – damage to the spinal cord and/or pelvic area trauma, such as a pelvic fracture, can cause sufficient nerve damage that can result in impotence.
6. Psychological ED – This is by far the most common but many ED sufferers do not realize this. Stress, anxiety, guilt, depression, low self-esteem, fear of sexual failure all have psychological roots. Past experience in an embarrassing sexual situation, being in a high-stress job/environment/situation, unemployed, low self esteem, going through a major change in your life. All of these things can have a profound affect on sexual desire and performance. But you don’t have lack of control of your penis and sexual libido because of some other problem… instead you have some other problem(s) because you’ve gradually lost control of your penis and libido. Therefore the only way to cure ED permanently if it’s of a psychological root (which is very common), is to learn to take control of your mind and prevent your mind from affecting your body during your sexual performance. It’s alot like public speaking. maybe as kids we were made fun of in class when we had to do public speaking and when we grow into adults we always have a unreasonable fear of speaking in public for no reason. It’s all to do with our past conditioning of our minds. Therefore, ED is very treatable when treated from the root cause psychologically, now with the many guides available online, you don’t even have to go to a shrink.
